Karen’s Opinion

because My Opinion Counts

Which Peanuts Character are You?

You Are Charlie Brown

You are a good person, and in a way, you don’t get what you deserve in life.
You are kind, honest, and brave… but you always seems to have the worst luck!

You’ve don’t give up easily, but sometimes you can’t help but get a little depressed. Life is hard!
You might be surprised to know your friends like you just the way you are. Others can see your heart of gold.

Glasses are a Fashion Statement

I was thinking about how, since finding out about Zenni Optical, glasses are so much affordable. While some of my friends can get new glasses every year because their insurance pays for them, I do not have that luxury. I really cannot think of many people who do have eyeglass coverage through their insurance. Thank goodness for Zenni Optical.

When I was a child, my eyesight would change every single year! My parents had to put out a chunk of money to keep me in eyeglasses. If, by some miracle, my prescription would stay the same, it seemed I would inevitably break my frames and cause my folks to have to buy me new ones. I refused to be one of those kids who had tape holding their glasses together. When I was a child, it was not particularly fashionable to wear glasses. When I hear the young kids at our church talk about how they cannot wait to get glasses, I am shocked. They are lucky. I never liked being called four eyes. Kids today are very lucky. They have cool frames to choose from, they aren’t teased for wearing glasses and their parents can afford their eyeglasses because they can go to Zenni Optical.

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing

I have been grasping for things to write about because it seems like all I have been doing lately is sewing! Don’t get me wrong. I love to create things. I especially like to finish projects. Here is what I recently finished.

Love Looking for a New Car?

My husband drives me crazy. He loves to drive through car lots and look at all the new cars. I only like to do that if I know I am going to get to buy one. To me, it is like going to the mall and not being able to come out with any packages. It just doesn’t make sense.

We are not in the market for a new car but my mom is. Now, this is where I can get involved! I have nothing invested except my opinion! LOL

I can suggest a new Honda because my mother in-law has had a few of those and they were so reliable. Or, I can get her interested in a new Saab like our friends who were just here from New York were driving. It was pretty cool and they said it was very comfortable on their long drive to Indiana. My mom needs a comfortable car to drive to warm weather each year when she wants to escape Indiana snowstorms.

How am I coming up with all these links to help mom find her car? I am using www dot carconnection.com. It is fun to use that website and super easy to maneuver. For instance, if I am looking for the new Mitsubishi Outlander Se, I go to the website and search for that particular car. If I want to put in the types of options mom wants and see what it brings up, I can find choices for her to look at that way too. (Doing that brought up a Lexus Gs 450 Hybrid and I am not sure she wants to spend that much money. She likes all those options!)

Try out the website and have fun looking for a new car. It sure beats driving through car lots.

Things Are Looking Up!

This might sound like a crazy thing to be excited about but, I just found out that my husband and I have a preventative clause in our health insurance policy. That means that we can both have a colonoscopy! I don’t know if that is how to spell that procedure but I know that we have been concerned about having it done. We are at that age when we need to have things checked out and catch small things before they get big.

Another thing that makes me happy is the state of our IRA accounts. I have been afraid to even look at how they are doing since the stock market went into a tailspin a few years ago. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they are doing better. We have been considering some mobile trading or online trading to offset some losses that have set us back quite a bit.

Getting older is for the birds! but life is as good as we make it.
