Thanksgiving Trivia

Did you know that the Thanksgiving holiday date, the fourth Thursday of November, was not set in stone until 1941. Yep, the date got moved around and turkey day was sometimes celebrated in September or October! One of my favorite parts of the Thanksgiving meal is homemade mashed potatoes. If I had been at the first Thanksgiving dinner, the one in which the pilgrims participated, I would not have had the pleasure of heaping a pile of potatoes on my plate. Potatoes were not part of the first Thanksgiving. Irish immigrants had not yet brought them to North America! Thank you Irish!

She Loves Stuffed Stuff

I thought my mom was going to need a new kidney today. Let me explain.

My dog, Elsie, loves stuffed animals. I received a lovely green box from IZEA today. Inside was a product and a fun turkey hat.

I was wearing that hat while bringing my mom a cup of coffee. Elsie took a look at my head and went wacko! She jumped farther than I have ever seen her jump and landed right in my mom’s lap! Poor mom. I had to hide the hat to get Elsie to forget about it. Crazy dog.
