Karen’s Opinion

because My Opinion Counts

Working Frantically

I am constantly at my sewing table these past few days because my daughter is bringing guests from Michigan when she arrives tonight. My daughter’s friend has a five year old who will also be our guest. That means having a busy little girl in our home. She has been here before and is such a well behaved young lady. Still, it is best not to have valuable projects laying around. Especially ones that entail the use of scissors, pins and needles. Here is a purse I finished recently.

Now, I am cutting fabric to put a binding on a recently finished quilt.

Having Fun, Making Purses

My eyes are buggy from sewing all weekend! I finally remembered to keep track of my time and discovered that it takes me 5 to 6 hours to make one purse. I’m slow but I like to take my time and do a good job.

I made this bag from a fabric from Moda called Peace on Earth. You would think it would be a Christmas fabric but it is not.

I made this purse from a striped fabric. I tried something new and made the outside pocket in a curved shape.

You can purchase these bags from my Etsy site as soon as I upload them.

Projects

I was spurred on to get my flowers planted because a friend has all hers in the ground and they look so pretty. I ran to the hardware this morning and bought begonias and geraniums. By the time I got home it was raining cats and dogs. I planted in the rain. Now that I am a drowned rat, I have to get cleaned up and move on to my next project. I intend to sew this afternoon.

I made a bag with blue batik fabric and I love it so much that I am going to make 3 more. I have enough fabric to make three but I need to find more handles for each of them. Check out my sewing blog at Winding Threads to see what other things I have made.
