Technology Through the Eagle Eye Movie

Eagle Eye movie
Have you ever felt as if you could not live without the technology we have today? I rely on my cell phone and I love being able to connect with people on the internet. The thing about all this technology is that we are putting ourselves out there. Are we setting ourselves up to be monitored? Will computers be able to override our thoughts and make decisions for us?

My husband and I watched an interesting movie tonight. Eagle Eye, starring Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan, will make you think about how everyday technology might be used against us. I was riveted to my seat waiting to see how stop lights could be changed from red to green, cell phones of strangers could be programmed to relay messages. Those were only a few events that turned innocent information processors into weapons of destruction. Is it possible that technology would ever override human decision?

This was a terrific movie. You won’t want to read blogs while this movie is in the DVD player.

Heads or Tails

This week’s theme on the fun meme, Heads or Tails, is “Doctor”. So, what did I think of when the word doctor popped into my head? Doctor Zhivago, of course. This movie was released in 1965 and told the tale of the life of surgeon-poet Yury Zhivago before and during the Russian Revolution. Married to an upper-class girl who is devoted to him, yet in love with an unfortunate woman who becomes his muse, Zhivago is torn between fidelity and passion.

Have fun each week playing Heads or Tails.

PS I Love You

Have you seen PS I Love You? This movie is on my must watch again list. It is a romantic movie set in both New York City and Ireland. If you like to see beautiful shots of green Irish hillsides, this is a movie you will enjoy.

The subject of the movie makes you think. What if, after someone dies, they can help you through the grieving process? Would it help or prolong the process?

I don’t want to give away the plot so I won’t dwell on that but I do want to tell you that I loved this movie. Hillary Swank was so doggone skinny. I don’t remember her being that thin in Million Dollar Baby. Do you remember that movie? She was a boxer. Anyway, she did a great job playing a ditzy yet intelligent person named Holly. Kathy Bates played her mother. She is always wonderful. The actor who played Holly’s husband is a hottie. I like this Gerard Butler fellow. He reminds me of a young Mac Davis. That Irish accent would have me at his beck and call.

Have your hankie ready.
