Before we all get wrapped up in yard work and ball games, write down April 9th, 2010 on your calendar. This is the release date for the hilarious Date Night Movie, starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey.

Have you heard about this movie? You may have heard about the four-and-a-half minute kiss experienced by the talented actors. LOL

The movie tells the story of an everyday couple who, like most married couples, need to put a little romance back into their marriage. The couple has three children and if you have kids, you know how parents become nonpersons, with their needs pushed aside. They need some time to themselves and decide to have, what they deem, a date night. Things seem better but they find their bi-monthly dates becoming as routine as their parenting with each ordering the same foods, talking about the kids and complaining about the in-laws. Date night becomes one more evening of routine ritual until one particular date night. The night becomes an evening that includes a wild car chase, a shootout and a showdown with an underworld boss at a strip club. Let me say, the marriage had more excitement than bargained for at the end of this date!

While the kids were home this Christmas, we watched the latest Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. While I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I think I would have enjoyed it more had I been able to follow the character lines.

I think I need to re-read all of the HP books. Do you know how long that will take me? Does anyone have any cliff notes?

If I am not around, it is because I have my nose in a book.

It is hard to believe that 4 years ago around this time of the year, we had a tornado go through our town on a Sunday evening. It leveled a modular home, moved houses off their foundations and knocked down a lot of trees. I felt so bad for the people who had to clean all the mess. There were electrical lines down. It was very eerie to look at the apartments where we lived when we first got married and see that the roof was gone. We could actually see the refrigerator in one of the apartments. Thank the Lord no one was killed. It was a miracle. We didn’t even know it had happened since it was on the opposite end of town. We had a lot of wind while watching the movie Haunted Mansion. I remember being engrossed in the movie and being scared out of our wits when the bathroom door slammed shut. It happened during a scary part of the movie and made us all jump.

This week at Heads or Tails, the theme is Spin.

The first thing that popped into my head is from the movie The Exorcist. Do you remember the scene when Linda Blair’s character, Regan MacNeil, did a head spin? It was the beginning of the cult type films. Very scary stuff!

Linda Blair said, “It was always very strange for me when I was young and would meet someone who geniunely seemed to be afraid of me. They couldn’t separate me from the monster I became in a movie. You wouldn’t believe how often people ask me to make my head spin around.”

You may have noticed that I talk about movies a lot on this blog. Our family enjoys movies. My kids are always spouting words from movies. I usually have to ask them what the heck they are talking about as they go on and on with their banter. Watching movies, especially during the holidays, has become a tradition for our family. Our tastes in movies vary for each of us. The kids get into intense sci-fi while my husband enjoys an action packed thriller. I like sweet love stories and uplifting movies. I think that, as a family, we don’t care for documentary types of movies. We want to be entertained and leave a movie with a good feeling.

One such uplifting movie that the whole family can enjoy is All Roads Lead Home.

All Roads Lead Home The Movie is a movie that the whole family can enjoy. Available on DVD on January 13th, 2009, this is a movie that definitely needs to be added to your movie collection.

The heartwarming story is based on how a young girl’s life is changed after her mom dies in a car accident. Her dad and grandfather try to help her cope as they try to cope with their own loss. This story is one that shows how families are able to forgive shortcomings in each other and the value of the family bond. The connection of a child and her pet is a sweet addition to the story.
