Four Foods on Friday #113

From Val's Kitchen
This week’s question for Four Foods on Friday asks, what can you make with eggs, meat or poultry, vegetables and a starch?

When my dad served in the military, he was sent to Vietnam to fight in that conflict. While there he ate a rice dish he called Kow Pod. He tried to duplicate the recipe and we still make it in our house. My sister in-law is from Thailand and her Kow Pod is very similar to the way we make it. My dad duplicated a winner!

We fry any type of meat in a bit of oil then add vegetables like onion and tomatoes. We dump in some cooked white rice and crack an egg or two into the mixture. Stir until the eggs are cooked. Serve.

Poor Val has not been feeling well and was a bit late getting Four Foods on Friday questions up for us to answer. Get well soon Val!

Here are the questions for this past Friday.

1. Are there any drinks you feel help you get better when you’re sick?
Unfortunately I was sick recently and can answer that good ole Gatorade was the only thing I could stand do drink.

2. Are there any foods you feel help you get better when you’re sick? Pancakes

3. Starve a cold, feed a fever. Do you believe this? I am not sure what this means. I am always hungry. Being sick never helps me diet.

4. Who cooks when you’re sick? My husband is usually the one who cooks in our house. He cooks when I am sick.

100th Edition of Four Foods on Friday

From Val's KitchenI can hardly believe it was time for the 100th edition of Four Foods on Friday! Wow Val! That is a whole lot of great questions about food. Thank you for keeping up with this fun meme. I am behind since these are questions pertaining to Christmas. Sorry about that.

Here are the questions for the 100th edition:

1. What did you eat yesterday? (Christmas for some of you.)
Our kids were not here for the holidays and so we did not have our traditional Christmas dinner. My husband made cowboy chili. It was delicious.

2. Do you have any food traditions for Christmas? We usually have a turkey or ham and all the stuff that goes with it like mashed potatoes, green bean casserole etc.

3. What’s your favorite holiday leftover? I love dressing that is left over. Oh, and cranberry relish. Yummy.

4. What food do you always wish you had more of after the holidays? dressing

Fun, Crafts and Recipes Woo hoo! It is Friday! Time for my favorite meme. Four Foods on Friday If you would like to participate, click on the little picture and you will be taken to Val’s blog.

1. What’s your favorite flavor of Italian Ice?
I don’t think I have ever had Italian Ice. What makes it different from a snow cone?

2. Watermelon. So you prefer seeded or seedless? I love a deep red, juicy slice of seedless watermelon.

3. Ice cream. Do you prefer soft serve or hard?
I love Blizzards made with soft ice cream but they hurt my stomach. I take a chance and have one now and then. My favorite ice cream is chocolate mint chip or black cherry hard ice cream.

4. Ice pops. What kind is your favorite?
Are ice pops the one inch by six or eight inch tubes that you squeeze to get the frozen pop up to the top? If so, my fav is cherry.
