Karen’s Opinion

because My Opinion Counts

Dad and Gold

Father’s day was such a relaxed uneventful day around here, yesterday. My husband preferred to relax and so we did!

Throughout the day, I found myself thinking about my dad. He was a sheet metal man in the Air Force and after retirement, worked in Saudi Arabia teaching others how to repair sheet metal. It was in Saudi that he learned about the value of gold. He knew it was wise to invest in gold and gold was abundant in the markets of Saudi Arabia.

When mom and dad returned to live in the United States, dad took up mining for gold. I don’t think he intended to get rich panning for gold but enjoyed lugging his equipment up and down the banks of creeks and enjoyed being outdoors. My kids were fascinated at how the equipment worked and were allowed to wash the rocks in search of gold. He gave us this gold pan that hangs in our lodge room.

June = Father’s Day!

Maybe it is my age but it seems as though the days fly by! We are half way through May and soon June will be officially here. I hope that means that we can count on summer weather. My husband and I are leaving in the morning to go fishing. I have said I refuse to go if it rains but I think I might have to suck it up and wear a rain suit. The things we do for our husbands! LOL

Father’s day is approaching and it is time to put some thought into picking out a great father’s day gift. My brother in law loves watches so I would think he would be easy to buy for. I found a great website that I need to tell my sister about. They have watches with Tritium illumination in the hands. Self activated light in any darkness is a feature I’m sure my brother in-law would like. He is interested in quality watches with Precise Swiss Quartz movements with stylish looks. I don’t know how many watches he has acquired over the years but I’m certain he would appreciate another quality watch to add to his collection. My husband would want the latest and greatest barbeque utensil. How about your husband? What would bring a smile to his face?

Citizen Watch

There are going to be many happy Dads this Sunday if their wives bought them a beautiful Citizen watch for Father’s Day. The only bad thing about a Citizen Watch is that there are so many that it would be hard to choose just one. The quality and watch technology of a Citizen watch has made Citizen the watch to have. The watch manufacturer has been making the renowned watch for 84 years. I love the Riva Diamond watch that the champion golfer, Paula Creamer wears. The mother of pearl dial sets it apart from other watches. It never needs a battery and it gives the date as well as being a rough and tough watch. The 24 diamonds it sports might add something to the reason I like it. Citizen watches are the best.
