Karen’s Opinion

because My Opinion Counts

A Pair in Every Color!

I was having a conversation with my hairdresser about how many pair of eyeglasses we have. We both have a pair in the car, in the bathroom, on our nightstands and above the kitchen sink. I don’t think we are alone in having multiple pair because, in today’s newspaper, there was a cartoon showing how the lady had a pair of eyeglasses in every nook and cranny of her house! That cartoon verifies it! LOL I have been known to, unknowingly, keep a pair of glasses on the cushion of my chair.

Since I am as blind as a bat without my glasses, I might as well enjoy wearing glasses. I love to have my glasses match my outfits. With the low prices at Zenni Optical, I can afford to have fun with my glasses. I don’t have to worry about getting the correct prescription when ordering and I know that Zenni only sells quality frames. I suppose not having a middleman and low overhead allows them to sell their frames at such low prices. My insurance doesn’t pay anything towards eye care so I am so glad I can get stylish, durable frames at Zenni. Now, if I could only stop sitting on them!

Picking Out New Eye Glasses

I have blogged before how pleased I have been with the prices at Zenni Optical. Well, I can tell you that the folks at Zenni have made their website even easier to pick out new glasses. Now you can use the new Try On feature–Zenni Frame Fit and pick out the type of frame that best fits your face. It used to be that when I picked out my frames, it was a hit or miss choice and I only hoped the style I chose would look good on me. With Zenni’s new try on feature I can upload a picture of myself and try onprescription eye glasses ! That is even better than going to a brick and mortar eye glass store. By using a picture, I can try on as many pair of eye glasses as I want. No more worrying about bothering the technician with my indecisiveness! I can take my time and even try on some styles I might normally pass over. Trying on glasses has never been this fun!

This pair is one of my favorite styles. At $12.95, I can afford more than one pair. I think it will be fun to have different colored frames. Maybe, a pair to match my favorite outfits! This new try on feature might become addictive.

Glasses are a Fashion Statement

I was thinking about how, since finding out about Zenni Optical, glasses are so much affordable. While some of my friends can get new glasses every year because their insurance pays for them, I do not have that luxury. I really cannot think of many people who do have eyeglass coverage through their insurance. Thank goodness for Zenni Optical.

When I was a child, my eyesight would change every single year! My parents had to put out a chunk of money to keep me in eyeglasses. If, by some miracle, my prescription would stay the same, it seemed I would inevitably break my frames and cause my folks to have to buy me new ones. I refused to be one of those kids who had tape holding their glasses together. When I was a child, it was not particularly fashionable to wear glasses. When I hear the young kids at our church talk about how they cannot wait to get glasses, I am shocked. They are lucky. I never liked being called four eyes. Kids today are very lucky. They have cool frames to choose from, they aren’t teased for wearing glasses and their parents can afford their eyeglasses because they can go to Zenni Optical.

Finally, Affordable Eyewear

We are a family of four and, let me tell you, buying eyeglasses is something we definitely have to plan and budget for. We are also self employed, so vision insurance isn’t always an option. I personally have worn prescription eyeglasses since I was a teenager, so I’ve gone through more lenses and frames than I could ever count. I hate to think how much all of those lenses and frames have cost in dollars.

I know that there are many families, even with vision insurance, can’t afford the high cost of prescription glasses. There are many kids who are in school and can’t see the lessons because they need glasses and their parents can’t afford them. To all of those who are in need and to those who simply hate paying high prices, I say, read on.

I recently heard a radio show talking about ZenniOptical.com, a site that not only sells prescription eyewear, but sells them at an extremely affordable price. A basic pair of prescription lenses and frames cost a mere $8. They also sell prescription sunglasses, basic bifocals and other options at slightly additional costs. Even with the add-ons, they’re still very affordable.

Clark Howard discussed zennioptical on his radio show and you can read his comments as well as those of others who have used their service.
