Entertaining
We have been visiting friends the past few weekends and now I am feeling a bit guilty. We really should invite this couple to our home but I keep putting it off. It is crazy but when I don’t know someone very well, it makes me nervous. I especially dislike lulls in the conversation and tend to chatter a bit more than is necessary to fill in the void.
I thought it would be a good idea to have some conversation starters like coffee table books. We have a large, square coffee table that is big enough to share a snack and coffee and still have room for some great books. I have a small collection of beer steins in my china cupboard. It might be fun to have a book that tells the history of beer glassware. Another great book to have ready would be a book about Hisey glass. I am slowly getting a few pieces of that glassware and would love to show it off.

I could share a book on both breeds of dogs in our house. I’m sure Brody and Elsie will introduce themselves to this couple. They are great ice breakers.

I feel better already. It is time to invite this couple to our house!
Anniversary

It is hard to believe that almost a year has passed since we were getting ready for our son’s wedding. Months of planning were finished and the fun began. We enjoyed seeing family who visited from other states. The weather was perfect instead of the horribly hot July we are having now.
Our son and new daughter in-law seem to be adjusting well. Other than living too far from their families, imo, they are enjoying their apartment. They have added two dogs to their family. Yes, we are grand dog parents!
Happy Anniversary Greg and Taryn!
Gone to the Dogs
My house, at times, seems to have gone to the dogs. I wonder if these three know how good they have it.

Suzie, on the left, is my mom’s dog. She is the queen bee because she is old. She lets the others know that she does not want to be bothered. Rarely do we see her scowl. The other two just seem to know to abide by her wishes to be left alone. She is a sweetie.
Brody, in the middle, has led us to visits to the Purdue Veterinary School for treatment of an eye infection. Tomorrow will hopefully be our last visit. His eye looks wonderfully clear.
Elsie, on the right, is our stately Boston Terrier. She is like a race horse. She is such a good dog and graces us with her presence on occasion. More times than not, she is in our bed, under the covers. Be careful if you get close when she is sleeping. She lets out a growl that tells us she is getting her beauty sleep.
