AhChoo!

I am sick again. I thought I was almost over this cold that had me losing my voice and basically feeling miserable. Friday and Saturday were wonderful days. I was doing so good until I weeded the bushes on Sunday. Now I am feeling crummy again. I think I will be resigned to stay inside and enjoy the yard from looking out the windows.

I have already replaced most of my indoor plants with silk plants because they don’t give off pollen particles and don’t need to be watered. The quality of silk plants and trees is so wonderful that it is hard to tell the difference between the real and artificial plants. I think that the real plants are thankful not to be brought into my house. I have a brown thumb and tend to send live plants to their grave. I have been amazed to see the one real plant in my living room that has been able to live under my care.

There is something about plants and trees that make my home feel cozy. I like the softness they give a room. The add a special touch to every room. Hanging baskets and pots of trees add a flair of design to any home.

Look At This

I am upset. I do not have a dishwasher. Ours broke down a year ago and since we never had a good place to put one we decided not to replace it. Now I see that there is a new invention and it has me drooling. Why am I upset? Because I want it. It is not nice to want what we cannot have. Look at this:

The designer duo of Marie-Christine Lacasse and Marie Claude Savard tackled rethinking how a dishwasher should work, as part of, and displayed in, the kitchen space. Combining the cabinets where you would usually store dishes, the idea is to simply drop the dirty dishes on the rack and the autonomous dishwasher fills up and does it’s thing - cleaning and washing, moving from one cabinet to the next.” Lacasse and Marie Claude Savard unveiled their invention at the University of Quebec in the Montreal Design Grad Show.

I want it bad.

Time for a New Fence

In June of 2006, we had a very bad hail storm and it did a lot of damage to our house. We had all that fixed and everything looks very nice except our fence. We had to move part of our fence so that the tree man, if that is what he is called, could cut all the dead limbs out of two large trees in our backyard. The hail had made a big mess of those two trees. The fence was one my husband constructed several years ago and was very pretty. It is not pretty now. Over the years, the posts have rotted and the fence is leaning. I think it is time for a new one. One of our employees continues to park next to that fence. That is probably not the smartest choice of parking spots.

Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Here is an unexpected tackle for today. Hubby put a humongeous pork butt in the refrigerator. He did not realise that the package was leaking. The juices ran down into the drawer where we keep all of our bottled water. So, I get to wash all the bottles and clean the drawer. Sigh….

Illusions of Delusion

Are there certain things that conjure up memories of things that were hidden way down in a folder in your brain? When we were visiting Epcot in Florida a few weeks ago, we passed a mirror that I did not like. This mirror was concaved so that it made a person look short and fat. I hate those mirrors. I think there should be a law against them.

When I was in elementary school, we lived in Tacoma, Washington. Mom and Dad were always fixing something on the house. Things like plumbing and working on the landscaping were always happening. It seemed as if Dad always worked on electrical projects during cartoon time. He probably didn’t intentionally pick those times but it seemed to a 9 or 10 year old that he did. Well, with all the projects going on, Mom and Dad were always at the hardware store. This was not a typical hardware store. I reminded me of our Big Lots of today. I wish I could remember the name of this store. It had a circus theme. You could find anything related to fixing up and making repairs to your home. When you walked into the store they had gumball machines lining one wall and mirrors on another wall. The mirrors seemed funny back then because I was a tall skinny kid. Mom always took a tuck in the waistband of my pants to keep my pants from falling off. Back to the mirrors, while Mom and Dad shopped, we kids would stand in front of those mirrors and act silly. There were mirrors that made you look eight feet tall and mirrors that made you look squatty. It seemed hilarious at the time.Photobucket
