My Opinion Counts

I put up the finch feeder and the finches have found it already! How do they know? Are they waiting in the neighbors yard watching to see when I will finally get that feeder out there? I’ll bet they’ve been complaining about me. I have never been so slow at getting the feeders up. I hope they don’t decide to dive bomb my head for being so slow.

A 15-year-old girl missing for nearly a year was found Wednesday locked in a small hidden room under the staircase of a couple’s home, police said. Two people who live at the home in West Hartford, Connecticut, were arrested. The girl probably was not kept in the secret room at all times, police said, but could not have unlocked the room from the inside. Based on her pale complexion, police speculated that she never went outside.

There is a lot left unsaid in this story but you can read what they have said at CNN online. I guess she had a history of running away but there was evidence that kept the police looking instead of just writing it off. Lucky for her, she was found. The article made no mention of her parents.

Planet-seekers who have spotted 28 new planets orbiting other stars in the past year say Earth’s solar system is far from unique and there could be billions of habitable planets.

“We are beginning to see that our home is not a rarity in the universe,” said Geoffrey Marcy, a professor of astronomy at the University of California Berkeley, who led the team.

It is the first time we have determined the structure of one of these extrasolar planets. It is rocky like Earth but it has a lot of water which is the essential ingredient for life.”

Three people, a bank teller, security guard and citizen, were critically injured on the scene of a bank robbery on the South Side of Chicago this morning. I used to work in a bank and I hate hearing about bank robberies. The people who work in a bank are ordinary people who have families just like you and me. Did you know that the famous cook, Paula Dean, once worked in a bank? It was robbed and she said that was the end of that line of work for her.

1. I don’t like red roses. I actually prefer yellow or peach roses. I never say anything negative if I get red ones though!

2. I don’t like to put laundry away. After it is washed, I like to look at it sitting there in nice little piles.

3. I let my doggies lick me on my lips. I know. Gross.

4. I hate snakes. I screamed yesterday because I saw a snake skin in my flower bed. I tried to pick it up and it broke in two. That freaked me out and I screamed! The thing is dead. sheesh

5. I have several splinters in my hands from pulling weeds yesterday.

6. I can’t listen to music or the tv when I’m on the computer. It gives me a headache.

7. I don’t like to talk on the phone.
