Cuddled Up With a Book

My daughter got me hooked on James Patterson’s series of novels, Women’s Murder Club. I had read all his novels about about American psychologist Alex Cross so I knew that this next series of books would be page turners. As seo of laundry and cleaning detail in my home, I rarely curl up with a book so when I do, it must be a good one. The Women’s Murder Club fits the bill.

This series revolves around the lives of four women in San Francisco. Now, San Francisco would be my choice of a beautiful place to live. I love the variety of culture and the hilly streets. That said, after reading these books, I would have to have 4 locks on my door and carry pepper spray at all times. The situations these ladies find themselves involved in are intense.

Patterson draws me in to the story, making me feel as if each of the characters would be ones I would sit down with in an Internet cafe. I love the sense of friendship they have. As strong as the head of a seo services organization, these women are smart and do not sit back when pushed. Turning each page to find out if someone gets hurt or worse, murdered, keeps me up way past my usual bed time. Good reading.

Fa La La La La

When asked what gets me into the Christmas spirit, I had to stop and think. I love the huge decorations that the malls put up. I can remember, as a little girl, walking through the cosmetic department of a huge department store and feeling mesmerized by the huge, sparkling ornaments. These days, the ornaments don’t look nearly as big! Could it be that being so small made everything look big? I wonder how many employment recruitment agencies it took to hire people to decorate and then take everything down again? And to think, I dread putting it all away at my house!

I miss singing in the choir at our church, especially at this time of year. In the fall, the recruitment for choir members begins. I thought about joining again this year but remembered how my back ached after standing so long each Sunday. I miss singing in the annual cantata. Does your church have a choir? Do they sing a cantata? Our church teams up with two other churches to sing the cantata. That makes a huge choir that sounds amazing. I know how much practice goes into performing a choir and that causes me to sit in awe as I listen each year. This production involves many talented singers as well as instrumental accompaniment. Violins, flutes, and other instruments add a professional flair to the movements. Goosebumps? Yes, I get them.

A Typical Wednesday

While my husband is resting his foot due to tendinitis, I am getting paper work done. My sister has been visiting and we were sewing and shopping and I just kept pushing the mail to the side. I finally got all the invoices checked in and paid some bills today. I actually went to the grocery. My husband has been doing most of the grocery shopping lately because he likes to cook. It makes it easier when he buys what he needs for his recipes. I love not having to go to the grocery.

I was reading blogs online and was reminded of the Fannie Flagg books. Have you ever read Fried Green Tomatoes? It is a fun book to read. Fannie Flagg is a wonderful story teller. I don’t usually reread books but Fried Green Tomatoes is one I enjoy reading every few years.

For now, I am watching Billy Wilder’s Sunset Boulevard. I have never seen this classic! Gloria Swanson plays Norma Desmond, the aged silent film star who loses her grip on reality.

Direct TV Makes Business Better

We might not want to admit it but we are a nation that loves our television programs. I cannot tell you how many people posted on their Facebook page how excited they were about the new fall lineup of shows. Once the shows started on Monday, I read conversations everywhere about Dancing with the Stars. Did you see the previews for Desperate Housewives that show the newest character will be played by Vanessa Williams? Is Ugly Betty off the air? The Biggest Loser, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice are also on my list of must watch television. The new shows like Whole Truth and The Event might suck me in too. Oh my! See what I mean? We love television.

Unfortunately, most people have to accomplish tasks in the evening during the best television watching hours. We have to go to the grocery and clothes shop least our children go hungry and naked. Do businesses realize how their sales would increase if they had an Direct TV for lobby entertainment area for husbands and kids. By simply using Direct TV, wives and moms are free to shop while their husbands and kids are content! Retail stores need to take notice of how other businesses have incorporated entertainment to make their customers and clients feel comfortable. Direct TV for Hospitals and airports have made wait times not such a bad thing. Restaurants have made it fun to get together with family to watch their favorite sports team on game day by adding Direct TV. I never minded waiting for a bed at the tanning salon because I could get caught up on a favorite show because they offered Direct TV. Check out the awesome preview at http://www.dishbusiness.com/index.shtml.

Television brings us together. Direct TV makes it even better.

Taking the Swing

Yesterday, while at the hairdressers, I noticed how tan most of the girls were that worked in the shop. They are all active in sports and spend a lot of time outdoors. My friend and hairdresser, Pam, plays golf all the time and is in such good shape.

My dream vacation would be to visit Myrtle Beach and learn from a professional how to play golf. I would love to walk the courses and get a good tan. The icing on the cake would be if I found out I was a natural golfer. Who knows, I could be the next great woman golfer!

48 Hour Tee Times is the perfect website to use when planning a golfing trip to Myrtle Beach. Their real job is hospitality with links to the nicest resorts in the Myrtle Beach area. Most of our trips to Myrtle Beach have involved accommodations with family so we would be more interested in how they are able to get last minute tee times. Their service is free and helps avoid high fees due to last minute booking. Our family never plans ahead so options for last minute tee times would be an asset for travelers like us.

I think Myrtle Beach has the most beautiful weather for a vacation and their beaches are beautiful. When we were there last time, my most favorite thing to do was to lay on a boogie board and ride the waves.

I am so ready for a vacation.
