Movies, Movies, Movies

My daughter has been here for a few weeks and that means we have been watching movies! I think she should write a column reviewing movies. She has such a way with words and she sees things in movies that I totally miss. That said, we watched the movie, Remember Me, this afternoon.

I enjoyed seeing Robert Pattinson in this movie. He is a very good actor, in my opinion and that ability does not come across as well in the Twilight movies. My daughter is of the opinion that Kristen Stewart is a good actress. I am not sure I agree.

From IMDB: A romantic drama set in New York City during the summer of 2001, where Tyler, a rebellious young man, meets Ally through a twist of fate. Her spirit helps him heal after a family tragedy, though soon the circumstances that brought them together threaten to tear them apart.

Getting the Most Out of Your Television Service

I never thought we watched very much television until our kids were grown and out of the house. When the kids were home, we were running to ballgames and band contests. I could not have followed the storyline of a show if I wanted to. These days, we look forward to our evenings in front of the television.

We have cable tv with Comcast.com and recently upgraded our televisions to digital. Or was it analog? I cannot remember. I love being able to get all the music channels and the Hallmark channel. The amount of shows we can view is phenomenal and I often use the handy TV service guide to get the most from the service.

Friends of ours recently changed their service to direct tv with directsattv.com. They are very happy and have suggested that we check it out but we are hesitant. An elderly neighbor has direct tv and has had nothing but trouble. I do think that direct tv is more economical and the picture on their tv is very clear. They have a tier of product pricing so you are able to pick the price that best suits your budget. I like the idea of not losing television service every time our power goes out. We have been having more than our share of storms lately. I find myself reading by candle light more than I like! LOL

It is important to study the features of both cable and direct tv and decide for yourself which service is best for you.

Figuring it Out

I am not the most up to date person when it comes to technical devices. My kids got me an iPod Shuffle for my birthday back in February and I am just now getting the hang of how to use it. I was only able to turn it on and listen to each song as it went from one to another. Now, I have learned how to fast forward to the next song and change the volume!

Leap Year

We watched a cute movie, Leap Year, starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. I enjoyed this movie! The woman that Amy portrays decides, after hearing that it is okay to propose to a man on Leap Day, she is going to get a ring on her finger by asking her long time, dragging his feet boyfriend to marry her. According to Irish tradition, a woman can propose to a man on February 29 during a leap year. She travels to Dublin where her boyfriend is attending a conference. Every type of setback is thrown in her path. Figuring out the phones, rail systems and other travel methods is an adventure that is fun to watch. I enjoyed watching Amy walk on very rough terrain in the highest heels you can imagine. The bits of romance were very nice. I had never heard of Matthew Goode but my daughter has seen him in other movies. He was nice to look at. A very funny movie with beautiful scenery. I recommend it!

Pebbles and Pearl

My sister is visiting and she brought her two puppies, Pebbles and Pearl, with her. They are adorable and very well behaved. It has been fun watching them interact with our two rotten dogs. They all four get along very well. When Mom brought her dog, Suzi, over to join in on the fun, she sat around and watched the other four as if she was the queen bee. The younger dogs must sense that Suzi is old because they just leave her alone while they frolic. The only problem we have had is with Elsie, our Boston Terrier. She thinks she needs to steal everyone’s chew toys and claim them for herself. Silly dog.
