Dyed to Normal Again

Ahh! I feel human again. What brought about this wonderful feeling? I got my hair highlighted and the roots colored. I was feeling like a grey headed woman. It was ugly. I had this gray stripe down my part and it was growing every day. Some of you look wonderful with gray hair, or as my sis calls it, chrome colored hair. I do not look good with gray hair. It must be the color of my skin because I feel washed out when I have gray hair showing up.

It isn’t just getting the gray colored that makes me feel good. It is the experience of sitting in the beauty shop and being pampered. Today was a bit rough though because my hairdresser’s son wrecked his car. She was dealing with the insurance company while doing my hair. I hoped she wouldn’t make a bad cut as she was finding out what they would and wouldn’t pay. Yikes!

The girls in the shop where I go to have my hair done are so much fun. They are very friendly. I have been going to this shop for over 20 years and have watched some of these gals become grandmas. Cindy, one of the beauticians, had a visit from her little 2 year old grand daughter today. Today is Cindy’s birthday and little Cama brought her a bouquet of balloons. I hadn’t seen Cama since she was in a carrier after being born. Here she was walking and bringing her Nana balloons. It was fun to be a part of Cindy’s moment.

I am home now and getting ready to go out for dinner. I have to make sure I don’t have any hair dye on my face. See ya….

Sproutwells and a Puppy

OMG! I love this new cartoon series. The Sproutwells are so cute and have the knack of saying just what we think. When the nosy neighbor acts too good to hold a cute little doggie, I just want to yell at her! Ruby has a way of putting her in her place. LOL Of course, being the dog lover I am, I love little Phyto (pronounced Fido). He is the newest and cutest addition to the Sproutwell family. Now, just what is the deal with the website Freshfunds dot com? You better check it out! LOL Be sure to tell your friends about the Sproutwells and have them check out the website.

Gotta Get An Economy Car

I am disappointed in myself today. I am usually a very organized person. I plan my trips to the basement, taking what is needed all in one trip. I plan my drives into town and try to make all my purchases and deliveries in one swoop. That was not the case today. I drove into town to get dog food. I came home and remembered that I needed to pick up the dry cleaning. Back I went. I only have one afternoon off per week and that means getting all my errands run during that time. I am irritated at myself and don’t want to figure out how much gas I used running back and forth in what could have been done in one trip.

I think that hubby and I need to start looking for a car that doesn’t use a lot of gas. By using the website at auto123.com, I am able to save time by narrowing down the selection of each used car for sale. The selection is narrowed down by both professional and consumer reviews. I would love to have a little VW beetle to tool around in. The website at auto123.com is easy to use and right now you have a chance to enter the drive, rate and fly contest. The reviews on the VW Beetle only make me want it even more. I need to direct hubby to the website. It is so easy to use that even he will enjoy it.

Canning Jars

I recently ran across a blog post of a fellow blogger that intrigued me. She was admiring a photo of a Mason jar. She talked about how well the photo showed the shadows and other qualities that are apparently important to photographers. I don’t know anything about photography but when she questioned why the jar was imprinted with the name Mason, my curiosity of the matter was piqued. Living close to the Ball jar manufacturing plant here in Indiana, I have learned of their history a while back. I have collected a few of the jars with Ball imprinted on them. Perhaps you have heard of Ball State University. That is where David Letterman went to college and where he has donated tons of money. There is a campus building named for him to honor his generosity.

After some searching, I can now say I know a little bit about Mason jars. Mass-produced glass canning jars, also known as Mason jars after their inventor John L. Mason, Ball jars after one of the earliest manufacturers of the jars, and fruit jars because many are decorated with a fruit pattern, have been manufactured since the early 1850s. An earlier British jar is known as the Kilner jar. Mason jars are made of glass, and come in a variety of sizes including quart, pint, half-gallon, and cup sizes, as well as in wide-mouth and regular mouth shapes.

Modern glass Mason jars are sealed with a flat metal lid, held on either by a vacuum seal (created during canning), or by a metal band that screws onto the neck of the jar. The lids are sold separately so that the jars and bands can be reused.

Take Care of My Glasses Would Ya!

Photobucket I have decided to do a better job of keeping track of my glasses. I only use them to read small print and while that sounds like it should be a good situation, it presents a problem. I am constantly laying them down and then searching for them. Last week, when we arrived at my nephew’s house in Tennessee, I must have put them in my lap as I was driving. My daughter found them in the gravel driveway of my nephew’s home. They had fallen out of my lap when I stepped out of the car. Now they have chips in the lenses. Luckily, my optometrist gave me the prescription for my glasses. I have that little piece of paper and now I can order another pair of eyeglasses.

ZenniOptical.com is a great place to order stylish yet inexpensive glasses. Thank goodness I can get a new pair without investing a fortune. I am going to order a pair without the tinted lenses I have grown to dislike. I absolutely love the contemporary stainless steel glasses shown in my picture. No more rimless glasses for me.

You may have heard of ZenniOptical.com on the popular radio show The Clark Howard Show. The host of the show recommended ZenniOptical.com as one of the best sources of quality eyewear. The show is a highly respected consumer advocate show so you know that ZenniOptical must be a great place to buy eyewear.
