Hunkered Down
We got some snow, enough to make me want to stay inside and hibernate. I am not a cold weather lover. I always thought winter was okay when we went snow skiing but we don’t do that anymore so, snow and ice can stay away forever!

My nephew and his wife came for a few days. They live in Tennessee and sell things at flea markets. Indianapolis had a big “Garage Sale” this past weekend so they brought their wares. My sister came along too as well as her grand-daughter, aged 5. That little girl is a hoot! She had me laughing and wore me out. I hope I can be as good of grandma as my sister is. She has so much patience. Little ones take a lot of listening to and energy. I discovered that I need to update my toy box. My toys are really old! She still liked playing with them.
Now that they have all gone home, my house is too quiet. My sister lives in Kentucky and another sister lives in, as we like to call it, the Republic of Texas. It is hard to believe that we have all lived so far apart for so many years. We try to get together for big anniversaries and holidays. I know we will be gathering in Dallas in two years for my niece’s high school graduation. My sister will be checking out party hall rentals in Dallas. If the celebration is anything like what the kids do for other celebrations, it will be a fun time. They say that everything is done in a big way when it is done in Texas. LOL I might have to get a hold of a Dallas relocation guide to see if my husband could be talked into moving somewhere warm!
It is back to work today. My house is too quiet.

Its good to hear you got an opportunity to spent quality time with your relatives. Like your sister even I am a grandmother of a cute little girl. She is my son’s daughter aged at 6. She is the only one with whom I spent most of my time throughout the day. But even she is out with her mother for her holidays, our house also becomes quiet and I miss her a lot during these days. Your post just made me remind of her as she is at her uncle’s place for holidays. Thanks for sharing!

This post makes me really nostalgic. I have not met my family in this new year and the reason is work and all its related tensions. We meet as one big happy family- my parents, sisters and brothers and their families for Christmas and Easter. We keep in touch through e-mails and Facebook, but we all know that is not the same as physical meeting, a poor substitute I will say. Can’t wait for Easter to come, sure to have some great fun moments.

I agree, winter can be problematic! At least in hot weather you can go jump into a pool, take cold showers and baths to feel good.. in cold winter all you can do is hide under blankets like a snail :/

It took a while but we got a little snow, too. Not anywhere near what we usually have, though. I want to hibernate, too! Making bean soup today, mmmmm.
have a good weekend.
