Holiday Weekend

I love 3 day weekends! My sister and her family visited and we had a great time. We spent one day shopping at a quilt store. We did some serious damage to their inventory and came home with more projects pending. I wouldn’t be alive if I didn’t have a project waiting in the wings.

We met up with the men folk and had a late lunch, early dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. We all brought home leftover bags. Mine is still in the fridge. We bought a whole cheesecake and each ate a piece in celebration of my mom’s birthday which was on Friday. We put a single candle in her piece of cheesecake and she had to make a wish. I wonder what she wished for. Hmmm?

On Sunday, we were supposed to sew but mom had not come over yet so we visited her house to see what she was doing. She was making a salad to share with the ribs my husband was smoking for our dinner that night. While waiting for her, I took a look around her flower beds to see if I could find the poison ivy that had sent her to the doctor to get a shot. She was miserable with a poison ivy rash on her face and stomach. It was very swollen and looked like it hurt. She looks much better.

Stay away from these culprits:

I found the culprit. There was a long vine of poison ivy growing beneath her bathroom window. I made her come out to look so that she might recognize it the next time. She was shocked that that was poison ivy. She had picked that up to move it because it was trying to grow up her siding. Ai yi yi! No wonder she got so much on herself. I carefully removed it and put it in a plastic bag. I didn’t get the root though so we will have to watch for it next spring.

She finished the salad and we headed back to my house to start our sewing project. More on that later.

Taking the Swing

Yesterday, while at the hairdressers, I noticed how tan most of the girls were that worked in the shop. They are all active in sports and spend a lot of time outdoors. My friend and hairdresser, Pam, plays golf all the time and is in such good shape.

My dream vacation would be to visit Myrtle Beach and learn from a professional how to play golf. I would love to walk the courses and get a good tan. The icing on the cake would be if I found out I was a natural golfer. Who knows, I could be the next great woman golfer!

48 Hour Tee Times is the perfect website to use when planning a golfing trip to Myrtle Beach. Their real job is hospitality with links to the nicest resorts in the Myrtle Beach area. Most of our trips to Myrtle Beach have involved accommodations with family so we would be more interested in how they are able to get last minute tee times. Their service is free and helps avoid high fees due to last minute booking. Our family never plans ahead so options for last minute tee times would be an asset for travelers like us.

I think Myrtle Beach has the most beautiful weather for a vacation and their beaches are beautiful. When we were there last time, my most favorite thing to do was to lay on a boogie board and ride the waves.

I am so ready for a vacation.
