Making Life Work: Raising a Father

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Raising a Father. All opinions are 100% mine.

Reality shows are very popular these days and I admit to being caught up in a few of them myself. I don’t know why but I am interested in how Jen and Bill of the Little Couple and Michelle and Jim Bob of 19 Kids and Counting react to every day things in their lives. The thing I like about their personalities that differ from other reality shows is the respect they show each other. You can tell that they genuinely care about each other.

I was similarly impressed with the movie The Blindside, starring Sandra Bullick. That movie showed how a person can make a difference in someone’s life.

Now and then, I run across a book that has the possibility of changing lives. One such book is Raising a Father written by Arjun Sen. The following video gives a hint of what the book is about.

If we stop to think about the amount of time spent with our children, we are often surprised to see how quickly the time passes. This author of this book made a big decision to leave the corporate world to spend more time with his daughter. At the age of 37, he realized that he wanted to be more the father that she wanted him to be instead of what the corporate world expected of him. Not many come to this realization or if they do are willing to sacrifice success for the sake of a relationship. I admire that he was able to not only see the light but was able to walk the walk. Raising a Father is a wonderful account of how important relationships are.

This book sounds like a wonderful gift for someone. I am anxious to read it to find out how, as a mom, I can get closer to my kids.

I would love to see the movie “blindside” too! Might have to rent it if it’s out already.
Don’t mind some of the reality shows, but there are quite a few TV could do without :)

What a great clip for a book about fatherhood! I know around here it’s taken years for one dad to really get to know his son versus what he thought was his son. It’s growth worth watching! I hope this book helps dads everywhere!

My bet is that Sandra Bullock will walk with the Oscar! This is a great clip and to see a dad transform is what most of us would like for our own families.

WOW!! A lot was said in that clip, in less than a minute. This could transform and help, quite a few dads!

I can sympathise with that….my husband left his corporate job to help me our small photography business – and he loves collecting the kids from school and generally being involved.
