People who don't live here in Eastern Ky don't really know what's going on.
It's easy for people to join a cause that they don't know anything about.
Especially these "big stars". They already have a good paying job, so what do they care about all the coal miners job here?
What are all these people supposed to do, if the coal mines are shut down?
hey, we could all go and work for "Big Kenny" Are you going to pay them the wages that they get now?
Don't send us back to the dark ages.
And fyi: they don't blow the tops off of these mountains.
Walk a mile in our shoes.

I think we should take into account those families that still rely on coal mining, and make sure any action we take has little impact on their financial situations.

Obviously protecting nature is a good thing, however, there needs to be a balance.

Coal mining isn't what it was during Coal Miner's Daughter time. In fact, I've always heard it's become quite environmental. Sometimes it's hard to know who or what to believe. There are always so many opinions. I do know we need new ideas, and we need to reduce our dependency on oil for lots of reason. Perhaps coal could help?

Hi Karen.

I've read most of the info you provide here and can understand how folks would want to prevent the landscape from becoming an eyesore. However, I wonder just how pervasive the "blowing off of mountain tops" really is. The way they make it sound is that every mountain in Tennessee would be decapitated. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
