We had a nice dinner with friends this evening. I always love it when I don’t have to cook! We noticed that my friend’s new silverware had an unusual feature and wondered why. Does anyone know why this fork has a hook in one of the prongs?

I am notorious for spotting famous people. I saw Ken Kercheval, Cliff Barnes from Dallas fame, at the Indianapolis airport. Sadly, I had to go potty and missed getting his autograph. If you are aware of my stomach issues, you know that when I say, I could not get his autograph and then relieve myself, I mean it. Darn IBS issues. Anyway, I did see him. Did you know that he successfully fought lung cancer in 1993, and had to have a significant portion of his lung removed, as a result of years of heavy smoking? I wonder what he has been up to lately.

When we travel to large cities like Los Angeles, Denver and Orlando, I am on the look out for celebrities. I have heard that there are celebrities who hang out in the Kissimmee, Florida area. Kissimmee is a wonderful vacation spot so it is no wonder that many celebrities have chosen the area not only as a vacation spot but have made it their home. My son has been making healthy soup for us each day for lunch. I am enjoying and could get used to being cooked for each day. Although his soups are delicious, I am usually hungry again by mid afternoon. That is okay though because that is when we enjoy a healthy smoothie.

Here is a chicken soup recipe that is similar to the one Greg made today.

16 cups (4 quarts) water
2 medium onions, peeled and quartered
1 carrot, halved
1 parsnip
1 celery stalk, quartered
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon dried thyme
a few sprigs fresh parsley
# 8 whole black peppercorns

chicken fajita meat, already cooked. He basically threw chopped and then let it simmer. It was delicious!

There was this couple in Scotland who had just moved into an old castle. When they moved in, they decided to empty out the wine cellar and found this large barrel of brandy. They tried moving it and even got a few friends around to help, but they couldn’t budge it. In the end, they decided to have a housewarming party and give glasses of brandy out to empty the barrel and make it easier to move. A few days after the party, they went into the cellar and tried to move the barrel again. It still wouldn’t move. The husband went to get his saw in order to cut it into smaller pieces and in turns they cut off the top of the barrel. Inside was a dead body and they had drank the brandy that had preserved it.

Would you stay in that house? LOL That story is a bit extreme but we all should think about how safe we feel in our homes. I would not want to live in a house that had been the site of a murder. I think I would have to install a web cam to watch for ghosts. Better yet, I would have to move.
