Stamps Are 44 Cents
Are you aware that the cost of stamps went up again? Yes, the price of a stamp increased by 2 cents on Monday, May 11. Hubby bought 50, 2 centers for me so I can add them to the roll of stamps I just purchased.
I bought the Forever stamps a few months ago but cannot bring myself to use them. I don’t know what the price of a stamp might be a year from now. Forever Stamps are good for, well, forever. You might want to invest in a book of Forever Stamps. You will pay more than I did for mine. The cost of the Forever Stamp rises with rates, and so it rose to 44 cents on Monday like every other first-class variety.
Following 2006 legislation, the USPS needed and obtained more flexibility to operate like a business as well as a government agency, so pricing is revisited every spring. That doesn’t mean that the price will automatically increase but we all know how things work when the government is involved.

I do not want to be the bad apple in the barrel, but if there is a loop hole for the increase next spring, it will BE, whether needed or not. Anyone remember when stamps were only a nickel?

Dear Karen.
I’m glad I read this today. I was going to mail out some things today. Will have to wait until I get to the P. O. now for two centers.

So I had some stamps .42 I know that there was going to be a rate increase but I forgot and send out my mail. Is the post office going to return my letter? If they return it how long is it going to take for it to get back to me?
