Jerky Report
I think one of the funniest bonding moments my husband and daughter had was when they discovered they both love beef jerky. LOL When they go on a road trip, that is one of the necessary snacks purchased for the trip. They have become pretty opinionated on their favorites. Jerky in the Teriyaki flavor is at the top of the list as a favorite. They also love hickory smoked, hot, pepper, and barbecue.
Making jerkey is not an easy task. Each slice of seasoned slab meat is individually hung on the smokehouse cart and smoked to perfection. Oh my goodness, my mouth is watering!
I like to chop up the jalapeno cheese jerky strips and add them to my taco salad for a yummy spike in taste.
So, there you have it. The jerky report for today.

Alton Brown has a very simple jerky recipe. I’ve made it, it’s wonderful, and it doesn’t take all that much work. Check him out on the Food Network website.

I’ve made jerky at home with a dehydrator. YUMMY! And almost no fat!

That’s a neat memory about the jerkey! Those kind of little memories mean a lot ten years later.

I cooked it and take a note that the basic method for jerky will work with just about any type of meat using the dehydrator or oven.

Like father like daughter!! LOL! I too love jerky, but usually only eat it on road trips. It must be a true road trippers food! Good idea about the tacos!
