Nurses Fired Over Sex Toy Pictures
When I worked at a bank, we were instructed not to talk about our customers. We were not allowed to mention who was in that day. It was considered common courtesy not to blab about who came in and out of our facility. No laws had to tell us the reason behind such consideration. We knew if the situation were reversed, we would not want every Tom, Dick and Harry knowing we had been to the bank that day.
The health industry has laws concerning privacy called HIPPA laws. In Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, two nurses took pictures of an x-ray when they discovered the x-ray was a picture of a man’s rectum with a sex toy lodged in it. Now, you tell me. Do you think the nurses should have been fired for taking the pictures? You can read the article to see what one of the nurses did with the x-ray.
This is why we have to have laws. We can not depend on people to use their common senses. Many people don’t have any common sense. I don’t understand how a nurse can be lacking in the common sense area. I always thought a person had to be fairly intelligent to pass the courses to become a nurse.

You can be all sorts of smart but still have no common sense. I don’t think they should have been fired for taking a picture. Especially if they just kept it to themselves. If the go out and publish it then yeah, that is a breach and they should be fired.

Hi Karen! A similar case happened here in the Philippines last year. The staff (doctors and nurses) and the hospital was charged by a gay patient because they took a video of him while they were removing a deodorant spray can from his rectum. They were laughing and having fun while the patient was heavily sedated. Worse, they uploaded the video on youtube. The poor guy became the laughing stock of their town. He had to be in disguise if he needed to go out. Last I heard of it, the doctors and nurses were fired.
It’s a shame that people who should be caring for us are doing these things!

This is definitely unethical! I am a registered nurse and the fact that these people did this really TICKS me off. It is people like this that give nurses and the human race a bad name. I hope that they investigate this to the fullest. Even if her page was removed their has to be some way to find out what was on it.

Oh wow. It sounds like the HEPA law needs to be talked up with the employees, including nurses and doctors. That poor man. How embarrassing.

It is always a few bad apples who give a profession a black mark.

That is horrible for the man and its awful that people don’t use common sense. You really have to wonder what is wrong with people.
