Scraping the Bottom
It might be a possibility that businesses are scrambling to hire people for the holiday season but you would think with all the unemployed people there would be some intelligent clerks to hire. I thought I was going to have to write out an explanation for a clerk at Victoria’s Secret. She could not comprehend that when you returned something and picked out a different item for the same price, it should be an even exchange. She insisted that I was going to have to pay $10 because I used a coupon to purchase the the first item. Fortunately, her cash register would not register the return the way she wanted so she had to ring it as an exchange. She told me I was getting a deal because the way it rung up was an even exchange. I just looked at her.

I have many opinions about many things. Let me know what you think.

A coupon still has a value and the coupon paid for part of your purchase…. therefore she´s a stupid clerk. Maybe it would have made her feel good to feel like she was doing you a favour that day? At least you know the truth!! Glad you managed to get it sorted eventually. Oh how I´m looking forward to the Christmas shopping season.. not!

There are a lot of stupid clerks out there. I make a purchase of $5.05 and gave her $20.05. She gave me $14 back. do’h, it took me forever to do the math for her!

I’m not surprised. But she might well have just been trying to do what was easiest for her as opposed to what was right for you.
What bugs me is that clerks can’t even give change anymore without the cash register. Can noone add and subtract any more! And most of them are not nice.
