Deflated RCA Dome in Indianapolis
What a sad day yesterday was for those instrumental in building and those who enjoyed all the shows at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. The new Lucas Oil stadium has been built to replace the RCA Dome, as it is now called. The RCA Dome is being torn down to make room for an addition to the convention center. The demand for conventions in Indianapolis is on the rise. There are now many beautiful hotels in the area for those who wish to stay near the convention center. Most of the hotels are within walking distance of the convention center. The eating establishments are wonderful and plentiful. You can get anything from a cheap plate of spaghetti to the finest fillet Mignon.
When the Hoosier Dome was built, it was one of the first to sport the inflatable roof known as the dome. It took some getting used to as you had to pull very hard to get the doors open to the venue. I suppose that all the air supporting the dome would be lost if it was allowed to seep out the doors when someone entered.
It was sad to watch as the dome deflated yesterday. Now the demolition of the building will begin.

I felt that way when they tore down the Houston Astrodome which was the first domed stadium. I’d attended many events in that stadium, including the Rolling Stones concert!
