Airlines Charge for Your Bag
Ok, I am thoroughly disgusted with the way the airlines are handling their businesses. Yes, airlines are business who want to make money. Their management stinks. Whatever happened to treating the customer with respect and making them feel like you appreciate their business? My daughter had to pay $15 to check one piece of luggage on her trip home from Indiana. Why doesn’t the airlines put this amount into the price of their tickets? I think it makes more sense to spread the charge out amongst all the ticket holders. Customers will be giving the ticket agents grief at the counter and this will in turn cause a backlash of unhappy employees. Airlines management goofed when they started charging for checked bags.

That sucks.. I have heard about the baggage charges. What airline did she take? I’ll be on Delta end of October and I’m not sure what to plan for.
My sister works at American Express, she says Delta might start charging for peanuts… Peanuts?! Ugh.

It was Northwest Airlines. Can you believe they might charge us for peanuts. I told my mom that soon there will be a pay slot on the bathrooms where you have to put in some money before the door will open. Then they will charge for toilet paper.

They’ve talked about charging for coke & pepsi too. It’s rediculous. It would be like a hotel charging you extra for bedding.
Problem is, they’ve got us over a barrel. If we want to travel quickly, it’s going to be by air.

I typically travel domestically a good bit……from now on i’ll fly only with airlines who don’t charge me to take my clothing lol, It’s nuts. I always take my own soda anyway but I can see where for others that would be an issue. Hope this ends soon.

That is not right. The fares also increase day by day.The airlines should facilitate the customer how ever they can.

“They” say these extra expenses are to help prevent failing airlines. But my theory is to help pay the”CEO” salary!!!

She only paid 15.00? Man, I had to pay additional 100.00 for a flight out of Atlanta to Oregon! Could not believe it. I checked with UPS after I got back and found out I could have had the bag shipped there for 12.00! That may be something you should consider next time flying….call UPS and see how much they charge for your additional item.

While it definitely would be annoying to pay extra at the ticket counter I think it’s fair to charge extra for luggage, food, and extra services as long as it’s known beforehand.
Service has definitely deteriorated in the airline industry, but I would rather have a lower ticket cost and not have to pay for other people’s heavy bag or a meal that I don’t want to eat. Interesting post.
