I Love My Dogs

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I am a bit obsessed with my dogs. I have a Shitzu named Brody and a Boston Terrier named Elsie. They are a joy. I love walking into my house and having them go crazy because they are excited to see me. I truly believe that happiness is pets. I can be feeling down in the dumps but when my dogs start wrestling and playing tug-o-war, it makes me smile. They are good for each other. They chase each other around the house so much that it sounds like a herd of elephants running down the hallways. I think when a pet passes away, it affects the pet left behind. We had to have our Toy Fox Terrier, Nacho, put to sleep because he got so sick with cancer. It was hard on us all. I think Elsie missed him too. Dog’s are very smart. Sometimes they are too smart! They know when you are going somewhere and sneak into the car so you don’t have the heart to tell them they can’t go. We have to turn a fan on in our bedroom so that if they whine during the night we aren’t tempted to get the dogs and put them in bed with us. Our dogs are so spoiled.

I feel the exact same way about my dogs. I have five of them, and they all make me smile and laugh every single day. They are definitely an integral part of our family, and spoiled very much!

I adore my 2 and they are so much like our kids. I hate when I hear about puppy mills and how horrible these poor animals are treated and I just found out that it’s legal to shoot your pet in PA, but hopefully the laws will change here soon and last year 2 brothers must have had a puppy mill and they shot 80 dogs and weren’t even punished.

We’re at our wit’s end with our Lhasa Apso. My feelings for dogs right now are not good. She tears everything up. When she has the choice to do her business on the grass or on the concrete she’ll choose the concrete every time. LOL, sorry just thought I’d leave a different perspective on dogs.

wow! that’s nice! dogs are really amazing and so smart…sometimes, it’s funny when we hug(me&hubby) and our dog Jake will bark so hard like scolding us, hahaha! then, when we say, “come on over” and he’ll join and he’s fine and happy!

I know what you mean. I think laws should be enforced more to stop the puppy mills. People are greedy that run them.

Is your dog still a puppy? Does she have a lot of chew bones to chew instead of your shoes and things? I wouldn’t swat her, it will make her afraid of you. Just scold her. She will grow out of it.

I couldn’t agree more — my dog is my best friend — I don’t know what life would be like without a pet!

I have a cat and I am trying to love her but she is messed up in the head. I have always been a cat person and had three different unique cats when I was a child I bonded with… a hateful little female cat, a wonderful genius male cat whose life ended early due to a car, and a fat old tom I adored.

Now as an adult I thought my kids would like a cat- so I adopted a 4 year old cat that was front and back declawed… I didn’t do that to her, I don’t believe in declawing. So anyway- she has mental issues that we weren’t aware that these sort of cats have. I like her and we are good to her of course, but the bond isn’t that strong, because of her obvious mental problems. But just like a person with mental problems you don’t get rid of them because they’re nuts. I suppose we love her-but not in a really over the top “I love my pet” sort of way. She’s alright and she keeps my feet warm, but I won’t be singing the blues when she kicks the bucket. Who knows ask me again in ten years and I might be in love with her.

It is too bad that she has issues. At least she has a good home. You just never know, when you get a new animal, what their personalities will be like.

I vowed we’d never have a dog…until someone abandoned a beagle at our business. She had been used as a breeder but had heartworm, so they must have decided to dump her after her last batch of puppies. She was still swollen from having nursed. :( We took her in, went thru the painful process of curing her heartworm, and now she’s my “puppy.” I just love her and I love how much she loves me. =)
