Veggies are My Friend
One thing I noticed while on vacation is that I get hungry on a schedule. I never really noticed but I am hungry every three to four hours. I get a headache quickly if I don’t eat so I grab whatever is handy and gobble it down. That isn’t the best way to watch calories. Quick snack foods are often the most high in fat and sugar but darn it, they are also the easiest to grab. I hate to cook when I have that sense of falling over faint with hunger.
The best snack items can be prepared ahead. With a little bit of effort, I am determined to eat healthy foods. Vegetables can be eaten without regard to fat content. I plan to stock up on them even though they are expensive. The grocers don’t help us eat the healthy foods when you compare the prices. Grrr. Chopping will become my exercise as I prepare little baggies of veggies. Those of you who garden are to be admired. I love fresh vegetables but I have a brown thumb.

I have many opinions about many things. Let me know what you think.

I’ve been carrying packets of unsalted almonds around with me. They reduce cholesterol, promote feelings of fullness and contain so many beneficial vitamins. Plus they don’t spoil in my purse when I forget about them the way celery and carrot sticks do.

Oh! That is a good idea. I have heard that almonds help with avoiding headaches.

Oh Gosh is it hard to eat healthy on vacation for me ! I like to try new things, so am always stoppin’ by the little shacks for snacks! Sounds like you did good tho. Take care and have a great weekend.

I know how you feel with the headaches - I get them when I don’t drink enough water. Our bodies love a schedule!

That is why I eat cookies too often. They taste so much better than a carrot.

It’s hard to keep it healthy. Burgers are more attractive.

Brown thumb? I think mine is black when it comes to gardening
But I agree, it is really hard to make an effort to eat healthy when it takes longer, and fast food is so cheap. I like shopping at farmers markets because they have the freshest food and their produce is cheaper. Good luck with everything!

I don’t garden but Jersey tomatoes are yummy. The only thing I’ve ever planted successfully were roses.

I can relate to those ‘hunger’ headaches. I hate thinking what to eat. Most times, I just have a drink of oatmeal or something.

Yup. A bag of fresh, cut, vegetables (or fruits) will certainly cure those sudden hunger attacks
And it’s healthy too!
