Four Foods on Friday #37
Val, over at Fun, Crafts and Recipes has thought up some great questions for the 37th running of the Four Foods on Friday Meme. You really should participate. It is easy and fun. Plus, you meet some very nice bloggers.
#1. Cake. Buttercream, whipped cream or ice cream?
I love having ice cream with my cake. If I have ice cream, it doesn’t matter what kind of frosting the cake has. If there is no ice cream, I prefer buttercream.
#2. When entertaining do you use real, paper, plastic or styrofoam dishes? real
#3. When hosting a party do you cook, have it catered or go to a restaurant? My husband cooks. That is usually why we have company. He loves to cook and makes so much that we need help to eat it.
#4. Share a recipe that you frequently serve when having a party.
Hubby smokes brisket or grills chicken and I make the side dishes. An easy salad to make is to whip some whipping cream and add a can of fruit cocktail that has been drained. Walah! Fruit salad!

I have many opinions about many things. Let me know what you think.

Does he still use his smoker?

I use real dishes too. I can load all the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and no big deal.

Yes Lynne, he still uses his smoker. He has a propane powered one now. He uses his grill more though.

My dishwasher bit the dust a few years ago. It was a portable. We don’t have a big enough cabinet to install one and the portable one was always in the way so we opted not to replace it. I miss having a dishwasher.

Hmm, I like that fruit salad idea. I’m thinking chilled fruit salad. Is that how it’s supposed to be served?

My hubby loves to cook too. His problem isn’t that he makes so much food but he makes so much of a mess doing so that I need help cleaning it up. I don’t mind (too much) because he is a wonderful cook.

Fruit salad always seems so complicated so I never do it, but that’s really easy! And you can’t go wrong with whipped cream!
