Ordinary Pictures As Art
I have been helping my mother in-law go through boxes of old pictures. We are trying to get names written on the back of each photo so that future generations will know who the picture is of and where it was taken. It is a big task but a fun one. I ran across a picture of my husband and his brother from when they were little boys. I was surprised to see how much both of them resembled their dad.
I am aware of a company called Paint Your Life that can take photographs and make beautiful pieces of art. They use different mediums including charcoal, oil and watercolor to make beautiful artwork from a simple photograph. They have a website that is simple to use and make obtaining unique gifts for any occasion one of ease. I have been tossing around the idea of taking that picture of my husband and his brother and having it made into a charcoal drawing. My mother in-law would love to receive a gift like that from us to celebrate mother’s day.
I have been looking at the Paint Your Life website and I am getting so many ideas for future projects. I think a wedding portrait done in oils would be a wonderful idea for a first anniversary gift. I am also drawn to the every day pictures that have been made into works of art. I love to see personal art that has a special meaning to the home owner.

I think that would make an incredible gift. I’ve seen those before and wondered who did them. I’ll have to check out there site. I love giving photos as gifts-old photos, even better.

I like the charcoal drawings. Our daughter and s-i-l would really go for those. That’s an idea to think about in the future.
