Happy St. Patrick’s Day
We just got home from Beef O’Brady’s where we watched all the crazy people come in with green hats and necklaces. They were getting into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. Beer was discounted. I think it had to be green or you paid the regular price. St. Patrick’s Day is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick (circa 385–461 AD), one of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17.
At age 16, St. Patrick was captured and sold into slavery to a sheep farmer. He escaped when he was 22 and spent the next 12 years in a monastery. In his 30s he returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary. He died at Saul in 461 AD and is buried at Downpatrick.
In Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, people traditionally wear a small bunch of shamrocks on their jackets or caps. Children wear orange, white and green badges, and women and girls wear green ribbons in their hair.
Did you know that 34 million Americans have Irish ancestry, according to the 2003 US Census. That’s almost nine times the population of Ireland, which has 4.1 million people.

I have many opinions about many things. Let me know what you think.
