Four Foods for Friday #19
Val from Fun, Crafts and Recipes has posed some interesting questions for her Four Foods for Friday meme.
#1. Do you ever use scissors to cut any foods? Which? Raw or cooked?
#2. Popcorn. Homemade, microwave, bagged, hot, cold. How do you like it?
#3. Sushi. Love it or hate it?
#4. Share a dessert recipe.
1. I never use scissors when I cook. It would be a good idea but I never have.
2. I love popcorn from the movie theater. I like just a little bit of butter and salt on it. I never eat popcorn at home. It smells good when Hubby makes it in the microwave but I don’t eat it.
3. If I could get past the seaweed wrap, I think I would like Sushi. I tried to eat it when we were in Florida a couple of weeks ago. I gagged and spit it out. Not cool.
4. I love Pretzel Salad which is a dessert to me more than a salad.
Pretzel Salad
2 cups crushed pretzels
1 stick margarine
6 T sugar
Layer pretzels in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish. Cut stick of butter to arrange pats in pretzels. sprinkle sugar over the top. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
Blend 1 9 oz tub of cool whip and 1 3 oz pkg. cream cheese with a mixer. Add 1 can of cherry pie filling and blend that into the cool whip mixture. Pour over cooled pretzels. Refrigerate.
You should visit Val’s blog if you are interested in finding some yummy recipes.

I have many opinions about many things. Let me know what you think.

Pretzel salad, I think I’ve heard of that by a different name, but I can’t think of what it is.

If you don’t like the seaweed wrap on sushi, you might like sashimi — it’s the fish from sushi, but without the seaweed or rice.
As far as using scissors cooking, I love ‘em! I use them to cut sandwiches, quesadillas, pizza, French toast and, of course, herbs.

I think, if I started using scissors in the kitchen, it would become a habit. It is just getting started that is the problem.

Hi Karen! Thanks for the stop-by at my place. Yes, scissors in the kitchen are addictive! And I’m going to try the pretzel salad - salty and sweet, can’t go wrong with that!

[…] Karen shared a recipe for Pretzel Salad and likes movie theater popcorn. I’ve not heard of a lodge room before, but Karen’s got one and it sure does look nice. […]

I use scissors, just started recently, in the kitchen per my Fiancee’s suggestion. It’s so much easier to cut up chicken, beef, etc., even when they are frozen!
I love kettle corn and I like it right out of the microwave! Sushi is one of my favorite foods, ever. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive for such a small dish!

Karen, your Pretzel Salad sounds good!
Thanks for visiting my blog. You mentioned about hot air popcorn poppers. They are very hard to find. We had one ages ago and used it until it wore out. Then we used microwave popcorn for years, but decided we wanted a hot air popper again. We had to check around at several stores before we finally found one.
